 DESCRIPTION OF MAG-SWITCH- ONE

Mag-Switch-One is a magnetic activated switch designed for radio controlled model aircraft and model boats. The Mag-Switch is designed to be waterproof; and is the solution for aircraft flown off water and of course boats.

As most of you know, water in the switch of a R\C system will make the radio inoperative.  Scale aircraft will also benefit by having no switch cutouts showing on the outside.  The switch is activated by a simple bar magnet.  It is generally mounted using double-sided servo tape or RTV glued to the desired location.   The Mag-Switch-one is rated at 25-WATTS DC MAXMUM.  Use in radio systems exceeding this wattage will invite failure.  If there is demand, a higher wattage switch will be produced.

One way to determine the wattage use of your radio system is to determine the maximum current draw of your servos and multiply by the number of servos you are using.  Then add the receiver current and multiply by the voltage of your battery.  This will give you the wattage.

As an example, say that you are planning to use the switch in a aircraft that is using six servos and the servos have a stalled current rating of 500 mill-amps each, and that the receiver current is 50 mill's and you are using a 4.8 volt battery.  The wattage would then be six x 500= 2500 mill plus 50 mill for receiver=3000 mill= 3amp x 4.8volts = 14.4 watts.

This would be well within the 25 watt rating of the switch.  In addition the vibration rating for the switch is 30 G's and the physical damage rating is 50 G's.  This is considerably more than the switch would subject to in the average model, regardless of the engine used.

The Mag-Switch can use a led on-off indicator or any of the current battery monitors available.  A new super-bright led on-off indicator is available at additional cost.

The switch has been tested by strapping it directly on various different glow and gas engines running at full power with no failures.  One test was with a portion of the propeller blade cut-off to increase engine vibration, and still no failures.  The switch was then installed on various different models from .46 sizes to large gas engine sizes with no failures.  These were tested with the switch glued directly to the firewall on one gas engine powered aircraft.  In short ,no failures were experienced in normal aircraft use.

The Mag-Switch is not supplied with a bar magnet because only one magnet can be used for any number of switch's.
