DESCRIPTION OF DUAL BATTERY SYSTEM |
|
The Stanton Hobbies Dual Battery System is a design that has proven itself
over a five-year period in the field. Installed in every type of
craft from seaplanes to ducted fans, the system has been absolutely
reliable. Tested to destruction on the test bench the unit stood up
to a current draw of five amps constant and a surge of thirty amps for
three seconds. Designed to be easy to install and be as small as possible. The plastic box enclosure was specifically designed for this unit instead of using a generic box enclosure that would not allow the smallest possible size; this unit is much smaller than existing similar units on the market today. This feature alone required expensive plastic injection molds to be made. The unit measures1.5 in. long x 1.367 in. wide x .894 in high. Each unit is supplied with 11 in. long 26 AWG wires to the receiver and is set up for eight channels. To make sure that the design is understood, a standard RC receiver draws approximately 35 ma of power when no servos are connected to that receiver. Therefore 26 AWG leads are more than large enough for the job of delivering power to the receiver. Understand that the receiver does not supply power to the servos when the dual battery system is installed in the airborne system. Only the servo position pulses are supplied to the servos and this current draw is negligible. On the servo side of the dual battery system the runs to the plus and minus pins of the servo connectors are 65 mils wide and are 2 once copper with a solder overlay to carry high current loads and to dissipate heat at a higher rate than normal. There are no connections at all between the receiver side and lines. On the minus or negative side there is a Mil.Spec. Filter assemble that stops all RF from passing either way. This makes for a noise free receiver and will not allow the servos to draw down the power being delivered to the receiver. The system can be used for smaller 4 or 6 channel systems with no detrimental effects. A ll the receiver leads are universal and will work with Airtonics Z, Futaba, Hitec and JR receivers and are compatible with PCM systems. These devices do not draw power at all. They are completely passive when operating. |
